Knowledge is Power.
Getting your health right for you can be tough. As the saying goes, knowledge is power. We understand this to be especially true when it comes to such an overwhelming topic. In this section, we make it easy for you to navigate your healthcare experience.
You Deserve To Be In The Know.
You may often be confused by the healthcare system. We totally get it. We’ve compiled a list of terms and their meanings because you deserve to understand what’s going on around you.
Acute and chronic
Acute conditions are severe and happen suddenly. An example of this is an asthma attack. Whereas chronic is a health condition that is persistent, long-lasting and develops over time.
Diet and Exercise
Improving your diet does not mean going on a diet but to intake healthier food. Exercise does not mean going all out, rather it could simply mean walking or engaging in another type of physical activity.
Positive or negative results
Positive means that whatever the test was looking for was found. Negative means that whatever the test was looking for was not found.
Ambulatory
a person who is not admitted to the hospital as a patient but visits for treatment
Inpatient
Inpatient care is the care of patients whose condition requires admission to a hospital.
Self-diagnoses vs diagnosis
A self-diagnosis is the process of identifying a physical or mental condition within yourself. A diagnosis comes from experts and is usually based on verified diagnostic tests such as a blood test. A self-diagnosis can be just as valid as a diagnosis from a care provider but it is important to involve your care team so you may get the most appropriate treatment for your condition.
